On November 20, 2024, Onsemi introduced the Treo platform, a cutting-edge modular system-on-chip (SoC) designed to integrate analog and mixed-signal functionalities. This platform aims to meet the high-performance demands of sectors such as automotive, medical, industrial, and AI data centers.

Advanced 65 nm BCD Process

At the core of Treo is a 65-nanometer bipolar-CMOS-DMOS (BCD) process, combining the strengths of bipolar transistors, CMOS, and DMOS technologies. This integration allows for high analog precision, efficient digital processing, and the ability to handle high-voltage and power requirements within a single chip. The 65 nm process enhances integration density and reduces the overall footprint, enabling the consolidation of multiple functionalities without compromising performance or reliability.

Comprehensive Subsystem Integration

Treo’s architecture encompasses several key subsystems:

  • Power Management: Features such as DC-DC converters and low-dropout regulators (LDOs) are included to ensure efficient power distribution.
  • Sensing: Incorporates analog front ends (AFEs) for precise sensor interfacing.
  • Communication: Supports technologies like single-pair Ethernet, facilitating robust data transmission.

This modular approach allows for tailored solutions across various applications, enhancing design flexibility and efficiency.

Expanded Voltage Range and Noise Isolation

Treo supports a voltage range from 1 V to 90 V, accommodating both low and high-voltage circuits on a single chip. This capability simplifies design processes, particularly in automotive systems transitioning to 48-V power architectures. Additionally, Onsemi has implemented proprietary noise isolation techniques within Treo, effectively separating high-voltage power stages from sensitive analog circuits. This design minimizes noise interference without the need for external filtering components, ensuring reliable performance in demanding environments.

Future Developments

Onsemi plans to expand the Treo product family by 2025, introducing solutions in high-performance sensing, DC-DC conversion, LED driving, and connectivity. This expansion aims to provide customers with versatile system solutions across automotive, industrial, and medical applications, leveraging Treo’s modularity and flexibility.
